Much like other forms of insurance, our systems are not required on a daily basis.

But when they are, they need to be ready. The fact that emergency power systems are on standby most of the time makes testing and regular maintenance all the more important. A Zwart multi-year maintenance plan will ensure your system stays in tip-top condition, providing 25 years of operational security.

Our service organisation consists of 35 specialists who are there to provide our customers with scheduled maintenance support and are on standby 24/7 to swing into action whenever required. Our extensive coverage usually means we can be onsite within two hours in the event of an emergency. Zwart currently maintains over 1200 systems for more than 300 customers in eight countries.

Maintenance plan

A Zwart maintenance plan is designed to ensure your emergency power system performs as it is designed whenever it is required throughout its lifetime. Our plan includes a comprehensive series of checks carried out by our trained service personnel. In addition to this we carry out regular inspections and replacement of consumables and other components in line with OEM guidelines and our condition based maintenance approach.

Revisions and updates

Typically at around 10 years into the life of the system we carry out a major revision of the system to ensure it is fit to perform reliably for at least another 10 years. This usually involves a strip-down of the major parts, preventative replacement of critical components and a comprehensive inspection of all major elements of the engine. After 15 years the underground fuel systems must be re-inspected. This is a legal requirement in certain countries and of course we take care of this for our customers.


Our maintenance plans and programs for revisions and upgrades form the basis of our service delivery. But as the market leader in emergency power we offer more than just that. We provide condition-based maintenance and predictive-based maintenance. Remote monitoring of the system can be installed to provide us with the ability to carry out tests of fault finding via a secured internet connection. Using the data we can make better decisions as to when the next maintenance interval needs to be scheduled. In doing so ca can extend the lifespan of the system and make sure it stays in optimum condition in a cost-effective way.
